Renting Tips: This page offers insider tips when renting your apartment in Boston

Tip #1

"The Early Bird Always Gets the Worm"

Approximately 90% of the rental properties in Boston have leases expiring in September of each year. That means tenants give notification to their respective landlords in May or June. Therefore, the earlier in the summer you start looking for an apartment, the better the selection will be.

Tip #2

"Be Ready to Pay the Big Bucks!"

When moving into most apartments in Boston, you will need to pay the landlord first months rent, last months rent, security deposit (usually in the amount of one month’s rent) and a key deposit. Furthermore, you will have to pay the broker a one month’s finders fee

Tip #3

"Buy New Sneakers, It’s Cheaper"

Besides our horrific road conditions and the ongoing Big Dig project, it is almost impossible to park in Boston. Boston is known as the "Walking City" because of its quaintness and accessibility to public transportation. Therefore, there really is no reason to have a car in Boston. Think of it this way, the money you save on car insurance and gas can be used to pay for your rent in the convenient city, plus buy an awesome pair of sneakers!
